I always knew I wanted to do hair. Ever since I was a little girl, I would play with people’s hair and imagine I was a hairdresser. But growing up in Ethiopia, my dream of doing hair was frowned upon and there was less opportunity in the hair industry. I ended up enrolling in nursing school instead and it wasn’t until I moved to the U.S. that I finally got the chance to pursue my true passion: hair.

Like most, I struggled with my natural curls for a long time, choosing to use heat to manipulate it. Flat ironing it on a weekly basis was not good for my curls or my scalp and I experienced a lot of dryness. I did some research and realized I was using too much heat as well as too much product. It was time to embrace my natural curl!

I graduated from cosmetology school in 2014 and worked off and on in the hair industry but struggled to find my groove. Ambushed Salon popped up as I was searching online and I loved their philosophy and dedication to natural curl textures. I knew I wanted to be somewhere where I would have the opportunity to learn more about curly hair and work with it everyday so it seemed like the perfect fit! My knowledge base expands more and more each day and I imagine it will continue to do so well throughout my career. I am so excited to be apart of the Ambushed Team and focus on encouraging each of my clients to embrace and love their natural curls.
